Showzam – a festival of circus, magic and new variety is a new event for Blackpool targeting the February half-term holidays, traditionally a quiet time for the town.

It builds on the town’s history and heritage in entertaining people, celebrated during the festival in Showtown, an exhibition of archive posters from high-profile international artists that have appeared in Blackpool, and its world-class links in the areas of circus, magic and variety. 

Highlights of 2009 include:

Get you best clothes on, don your mask and watch the best entertainment at the flower themed Carnival Ball, in the famous Tower Ballroom on Friday 13 February.

New Variety at The Grand with La Clique's Miss Behave in a brand new cabaret show and an amazing family show that heads to Vegas after its run in Blackpool.

New for 2009, The Festival Hub of Showzam Central in the Winter Gardens featuring Circus of Wonders - A New circus exhibition; Carnesky's Ghost Train and talks in the Showzam Theatre; and workshops.

Heat the Streets returns with even more fire, music, magic and street performance from Walk the Plank and a steaming finale by Dark Spark on Saturday 21 February.
